Studies have been conducted to bring light to the fact that video games (although highly addicting) can aid the relieving of stress in our bodies and sometimes even help fight depression. You might think this is a bogus fact, but there is evidence that points to positive outcomes from playing video games. You might not be a big gamer, but in light of these studies, you might consider devoting some time to playing a few video games.

Video games will help you relieve stress

A prominent study conducted at the University College London in 2014 showed that there is a direct connection between the time spent playing video games and the time it takes to relieve stress. The essence of the studies and their outcomes is that if you devote some time playing video games, likely you will feel an immediate relieve of stress from the your hectic day. The results of the studies don’t just apply to children and young adults, but mature and older people as well.

Another in-depth study done by Professor Dr. Christoper J. Ferguson at the Texas A&M in 2010 further explored this issue. His results showed that in the long run, both women and men adapt better skills to cope with stress, battle depression, and generally handle stress better when they play video games.

Dr Ferguson proved that even violent games have a positive effect on you. He implied that video games should be used as a form of therapy to help individuals battle stress and get a grip on their frustrations. It’s not a shocking fact considering that the people that do play video games play them to relax.

Many other studies have been conducted that show that video games do have a positive effect on things like our cognitive function. It is no wonder that modern day offices sometimes include video games. It’s a great social activity for the workers and as we now know, video games will help you reduce stress and handle stressful situations better. You can’t argue what’s backed by science.
