All children like toys, but boys and girls have different preferences in games. This article tells about differences in their preferences.

Why girls and boys play differently

A lot of moms, psychologists and scientists ask a question - why boys and girls play differently? There are two points of view on this matter. One says that boys and girls behavior is shaped by the society and toys, games, which they choose is a result of society’s influence. The second point of view states that boys and girls are biologically hard-wired in a different way so they play and behave in a certain way. No matter what point of view you will support, it is necessary to accept that boys and girls are really gender-different and parents and teachers have to use this fact while learning and communicating with children.

Different choices of girls and boys

Girls Preferences

Girls are more verbal and they are more socially oriented in their games. They prefer process oriented play, usually they chose quiet and less energetic games. Girls are less likely to take risks. Usually girls prefer feminine toys like dolls and domestic toys. It helps them to get more experience and then to use it in the future.

Boys Preferences

Boys prefer less verbal games. Usually they prefer playing as a part of a big group. They are more likely to take risks. When boys play, they do it in a loud way and usually their games are rough and energetic. Boys choose to play with masculine toys such as trucks and cars.

Boys and girls prefer different toys and different games and, it is more likely that it is a reason of hormones and genes and other biological factors. But if you don’t want your child to be locked in the gender stereotypes, try to buy more non-gender toys for your child or propose opposite-gender toys. It will be great to encourage physical activity in your daughter and to help your son to become a caring man in the future.
